Finish all your writing projects

with the system hundreds of career writers

are using to stay on track (and enjoy the process!)

As a writer, you know that nothing is more important (and satisfying) than seeing your writing projects go from start to finish.

Whether you’re self-publishing your mystery series, completing an MFA and you’ve hit the “all but thesis” stage, meeting a publishing deadline, writing a book to launch your coaching or speaking platform, or building a library of screenplays before you start querying Hollywood producers, nothing can happen until you finish your work.

And the only way to finish your work is to actually write. Every. Single. Day.

But that isn’t always easy when you’re on your own — isolation, resistance, unstructured time, perfectionism, and distractions all get in the way of the consistent, productive, and professional writing habits you need to see your novel, book, or screenplay through to “Done!”

Fortunately, there’s a solution to those problems that you can start using right now to get your writing done, on track, and with all the support you need — and I’d love to walk you through how it will help you get all your writing projects finished.

Next session start date: September 14, 2015
Last day to register: September 10, 2015

How the Writer’s Circle will help you

overcome the hurdles that have kept you

from getting your writing done

Like you, I discovered that there is much more involved in getting writing projects finished than taking “learn the craft” writing courses, attending writing workshops or conferences, or getting involved in 30-day writing challenges.

Those are helpful tools, but they can’t help you write consistently all year long.

A big part of learning how to be a writer or an author is about learning to tackle “the war of art” on a regular basis — to do the work and build the solid writing habit you need.

That’s why I created the Writer’s Circle — to help you with the real roadblocks that stall your writing and to solve the real issues that are keeping you from saying “Done!”

Hundreds and hundreds of academic writers (over 2000) have used this very system for years to reach their dissertation and tenure writing goals — and now it’s available for creative writers like you too.

“Had it not been for the Writer’s Circle coaching program, I wouldn’t have survived the process of rewriting, revising and editing The Stone Demon.”

KarenMThe-Stone-Demon-US-cover“Had it not been for the Writer’s Circle coaching program, I wouldn’t have survived the process of rewriting, revising and editing The Stone Demon. In fact, Jenna and the Writer’s Circle are in my acknowledgments for that book. I also managed to get through the first draft of Hunting the Dark, which is coming out in early 2015. Most recently, I wrote a proposal for a new children’s mystery with the support of the Circle. Even as an established, published writer, having the coaching through the Circle helped me to procrastinate far less and to build a much more solid writing routine. Being a member also felt like an important step in seeing myself as a professional.

Hunting the Dark eBook“I urge you to join the Writer’s Circle if you’re struggling to put together a regular writing practice. Access to affordable, quality coaching isn’t always easy to find and the Circle is a good way to achieve that in a supportive, group environment. It’s a powerful tool for writers of all types, from complete beginners to published veterans spread across all the different groups, and it doesn’t matter what you’re writing — poetry, memoir, self-help, literary fiction, commercial/genre fiction, YA, short stories, novels, TV screenplays, film script — there’s a place for you here.”

~ Karen Mahoney, author of The Iron Witch trilogy, www.kazmahoney.com

Completed two novels and wrote a proposal for a third.

The Writer’s Circle is a small group coaching program
that helps you stay accountable to your writing
(and yourself!) on a consistent, daily basis.

The program runs in recurring, 28-day sessions. During each session, in addition to the “core” of the program — our online progress tracking system and small group coaching — you’ll have access to additional supports like our group writing sprints and live teleconferences.

In the Writer’s Circle, you’ll have ongoing access to:

  • Guilt-free support from writing coaches who can help keep you motivated so you can move past writer’s block, resistance, perfectionism, and procrastination.
  • Extra support from other writers like you using the system so you won’t feel isolated in your ambitions.
  • A fantastic online writer’s progress tracking system that lets you see exactly how much you’ve accomplished (and actually makes “accountability” fun).
  • An online progress journal that lets you track your evolution to becoming a stronger writer and break through your own barriers to writing consistently and productively.
  • Resources to help you overcome self-doubt so you can write with confidence.

When you start using the tools in the Writer’s Circle, you’ll begin to see the positive changes in the way you see yourself as a writer and as a person — you’ll create the writing life you’ve always wanted.

I’ve carefully designed your entire experience to speak to your real needs — finding success through small steps, accessing the motivation to write consistently, and having the support of writers and writing coaches who want to see you succeed at getting all your writing projects done.

“I tamed the book beast in 3 sessions, 15 minutes at a time.”

Terri Fedonczak Field Guide“I’ve had this book brewing in me for 15 years. I never thought I could finish it…it seemed too big. After joining Just Do The Writing, I tamed the book beast in 3 sessions, 15 minutes at a time. The Just Do The Writing system is so effective, that I have used the basic principles in other areas of my life to great success. It is so satisfying to finally turn my dream into reality.”

~ Terri Fedonczak, Certified Martha Beck Life Coach, www.GirlPowerForGood.com

Finished the first draft of her parenting book after 10 years. Now in print.

“This is the best investment I’ve made as a writer.”

“This is the best investment I’ve made as a writer. The regularity with which I write now is so helpful. The support from others has totally changed my attitude. Writing is something I no longer dream of doing. Writing is now something that I know I’m doing. I show up to Writer’s Circle for the sprints to be there with people who I now consider my partners in this venture and it has become so much more fulfilling and productive. The Writer’s Circle has met a need for me that had previously kept me from taking my writing to the next level. And since I’ve been in the Writer’s Circle, which I think has been about three sessions now, I actually finished a 60,000 word piece of work that I am now in revisions on and I’m going to enter into a national contest in January.”

~ Ellen Jennings Bradley, writer

Finished a 60,000 word piece and plans to submit to a national contest.

“The Writer’s Circle program helped me let go of all my limiting thoughts about being too old or too late to write.”

MaryMontanye-w-credit-222x300“I was struggling to finish the memoir I’d been writing for seven years when I heard about Jenna’s Writer’s Circle. I joined the next available session and, with the support of my group and coach, completed the final draft of my memoir, Above Tree Line, in just one 4-week session! I subsequently went on to publish my memoir while still in the Writer’s Circle, something I would not have had the courage to attempt without the encouragement of my fellow writers, along with the coaches’ examples and knowledge about creating and maintaining a serious writing career.

Mary Montanye Above Tree LineI now write consistently. I take myself seriously as a writer, something I did not do in the 20-plus years I struggled along on my own. The older I got without producing much or publishing, the more I told myself it was too late, I was too old, I might as well give up. Through my involvement in the Writer’s Circle, I was able to let every one of these detrimental ideas go, knowing they were merely thoughts that were keeping me stuck. As writers we never have to retire. We can write and submit and even publish into our 80s and beyond.”

~ Mary Montanye, author of Above Tree Line, www.MaryMontanye.com

Finished her memoir after seven years. Now in print.

Here’s how you’ll begin your personal writing journey

to getting your writing projects done,

month after month after month . . .

You’ll begin with immediate support from your writing coach . . .

Your first session will begin with your coach — either me or one of my excellent small group coaches that I’ve personally selected and trained — welcoming you into your small group of 8 to 12 writers, to help you feel comfortable getting started writing right away.

On Day 2, we’ll gather on a group telephone conference session to meet each other and get inspired for session ahead. Our Welcome Calls are inspiring — it’s amazing to hear from other writers who are experiencing so many of the same things you are and who are eager to solve them, just like you.

Plus, it’s incredibly normalizing to realize that you’re not alone in the struggles you face with the day-in, day-out challenges of being a serious writer — or a writer who wants to be serious about writing.

Later in the session, on Day 15, we’ll have a second community-wide Coaching Call — another opportunity to hear from other writers, pick up writing tips, and get your questions answered about your writing by your coaches.

While we do make a point to schedule our calls mid-day Pacific Time (1 to 2:30 p.m. Pacific) to make the time work for our participants in Australia and the UK, we know it won’t always work for you to be there live, so for your convenience, all the calls are recorded and available for download — which means that you can listen to them again if you want to be re-inspired or if you ever miss a live session.

You’ll have access to “make it easier” resources to help make your writing happen . . .

On the online site, we’ve set up a number of resources to help make your writing journey easy. We’ve created a “Wiki” of tips and tricks for writing, using the system, and staying inspired, as well as orientation and writing principles videos to help you get started right away.

As a regular, participating member of the Writer’s Circle, you’ll also have access to special rates for private sessions with your program coaches if you ever want additional support with your work or your writing habits.

We also hold weekly group “writing sprints” if you want inspiration to jump in and write with the others in your group.

And each day you can check in to track your progress and get encouragement from other writers . . .

Writer's Circle progress gridIn the Writer’s Circle, the focus is on the process of accomplishing your writing, strengthening your writing habits, and the progress you DO make — never on critiquing your work. In fact, you don’t share your writing with anyone unless you optionally choose to post a small excerpt of your work at the end of the session.

Every day you’ll log in to the online site to record your work on our “progress grid.” Seeing all those green check marks right next to your name will help build your confidence in your ability to write, day after day after day.

The other writers in your group will leave supportive comments and encouragement to help you keep facing the challenges and to celebrate the high points with you. Your coach will be right there alongside you to help you troubleshoot the sticky places that crop up along the way — like those limiting beliefs that hold you back and the tricky little ways you distract yourself from writing — so you can glide past them and do your writing much more easily.

Online small-group and community-wide forums and chat rooms are also available as a way to get your questions answered and build community.

And daily “check-in” questions will help you feel great about your writing and make plans for the next day . . .

Writer's Circle daily progress questionsFor each day’s check-in, you’ll answer some simple but profound questions that not only help you track, acknowledge, and celebrate your progress (something most writers forget to do!), but also to disarm and antidote the negative inner dialogue that runs through your mind, seizes you up, and turns into procrastination and resistance.

Taking a clear, honest look at what you’re saying to yourself — even for just a minute or two each day — helps dissolve the internal “gunk” that otherwise builds up, turns into blocks, and keeps you from doing your writing.

Our check-in questions will keep you focused on what matters and get out of your own way so you can do the work you’re here to do.

And as the month progresses, you’ll see exactly how far you’ve come . . .

Writer's Circle writing progress graphAlong with the progress grid filled with little green check marks, showing how you’ve logged in every day to write, you’ll also be able to visually graph your work to see how much cumulative writing time you’ve put in during the session.

It’s powerful to see your progress building and building over time. You’ll visually see the power of working a little bit at a time over the long haul.

… and you’ll be able to repeat your success, month after month.

One of the key writing principles we use in the Writer’s Circle is writing every day — at least 5 out of every 7 — even for just a few minutes.

Sure, participants take vacations (and so do we!) but we get back to our writing as soon as we return, and sometimes write even on our holidays.

To that end, this is a recurring program that restarts every 28 days. We know that successful writers use consistency to stay on track with their writing, so we’ve designed this to support you session after session, month after month.

Plus, we also know that serious writers always have another project in mind, so even when you finish one, you’ll have another in the queue that you’ll want to bring to the forefront, and the Writer’s Circle will support you to make that happen.

“I no longer have the paralyzing fear I once did about delving into the messy parts of my writing process.”

jillwithdraft2“Thanks to the steady and compassionate support of the Writer’s Circle community, I no longer have the paralyzing fear I once did about delving into the messy parts of my writing process. I’ve completed three full novel drafts now and several full revisions, something that felt almost impossible to me when I was struggling on my own. I have a much greater awareness of the pitfalls that caused me to avoid my writing projects in the past and this has been key to writing regularly and challenging myself more as a writer. Since I joined the Writer’s Circle, not a week has gone by where I haven’t moved a project forward in some way, and that’s pretty amazing!”

~ Jill Winski, Writer & Creativity Coach, www.JillWinski.com

Completed three full novel drafts and several full revisions.

“I was able to complete a final rewrite of my children’s novel.”

“The Writer’s Circle has been a transformative entity in my life. The isolation of writing has always been a struggle for me, along with the struggle of writing itself! Through the group, I found fellow artists going through the same stuff and through sharing our experiences, I came to realize it’s all part of the process. That was a HUGE insight for me and one that led me back to the keyboard day after day.

“A productivity and peace entered into my writing practice — and I was able to complete a final rewrite of my children’s novel.

“Jenna is a fantastic journeyman/ mentor who’s going through the process just as you are even as she’s leading it.  Her positive energy is infectious.

“This is a group I highly recommend.”

~ Daintry Jensen, writer

Completed a final rewrite of her novel.

“I am writing more and more regularly.”

“I am writing more and more regularly than I was before starting this! It has been an AWESOME experience to get me focused on writing regularly, connecting with other writing/creative community people, and having one “aha” after another, not just about writing, but about my life as well.”

~ Molly Yarrington, writer, Inspirer Extraordinaire

Wrote a poem a day for 30 days.

“It is rare to find a kind and generous community that is also truthful.”

“It’s true that being accountable somewhere helps. It is rare to find a kind and generous community that is also truthful. It is rare to find a place to feel completely supported yet challenged to get things done. Jenna balances each. I’ve always felt a greater sense of wholeness and hope working with Jenna, yet never plied with saccharin encouragement or false platitudes.”

~ Jessica Vaughan, writer

“I would have really struggled to do this without this group.”

“It was so good to take the isolation of writing away. I love that my writing has quickly started to establish into my daily routine. I would have really struggled to do this without this group. I’m more creative, more productive.”

~ Rebekah Shepherd, Yoga teacher, Writer, www.SoulNicheYoga.com

“An invaluable tool for creating and maintaining creative momentum.”

“The Writer’s Circle is an invaluable tool for creating and maintaining creative momentum. I loved seeing myself and others refine our writing practices in ways that truly serve our writing. The practice of doing the writing on a daily basis has opened up insights and heightened clarity of what’s next in my whole life.”

~ Lydia Puhak, Transformative Coach, www.LydiaPuhak.com

“Pivotal in integrating several improvements in my writing.”

“Exceptional involvement from fellow writers. Extraordinary non-judgmental encouragement from Jenna. Effective focus on accountability and goals. The day-to-day format of both inputting progress as well as giving and receiving feedback has been pivotal in helping me fully integrate several improvements in my writing, work consistency, and life.”

~ Sandy Edwards, Entrepreneur, Artist, Community Developer

“Good if you want to write more and make fewer excuses not to write.”

“I loved leaving and getting comments on my daily progress. Now, I’m writing more consistently and feeling consistently creative. The system is good if you want to write more and make fewer excuses not to write. It’s so easy to talk oneself into not doing something creative and instead doing something mundane.”

~ Giulietta Nardone, Inspirational rebel, www.GiuliettaTheMuse.com

Published 3 essays and one op-ed piece in 1 session.

“I feel encouraged to continue even on days when I don’t feel I have time or energy or desire.”

“I’m writing again — that’s the bottom line. I feel encouraged to continue even on days when I don’t feel I have time or energy or desire. I am now convinced I can’t do this without contact with others. If you need help to get your ‘fingers on the keyboard’ this system will help.”

~ Fredrica Parlett, Writer, Searcher, Hyperactive Senior

Finished the first draft of her novel at age 74, then two major revisions.
